This week in focus
On the fear of Love

I am not sure how to write of this… I have rarely met adults who fear sexual connection - sure, there may not be a desire to connect with a specific other human being, or a lack of flowing connection, or a personal desire to maintain a healthy distance, but this is a simple framing of one’s space in the context of the other.

With regards love, on the other hand, I have encountered all too many who fear the engagement. For some, it may be out of a personal fear of not truly being loveable (yet each and every one I have ever met is deeply loveable); for others, the living reality of past rejection may simply put one at arm’s length from the depth of living connectivity; and for others still, the self-imposed expectations as to how one ‘ought to be’ simply barricades the fortress of the heart.

Our inner core naturally has a deep longing for Love, for a depth of connection and flowing Trust. A connection that, admittedly, transcends the individual other, as is reflected in the (Pacific island) concept of ‘Vanué’ - a connection to the spritual interweaving of land, ocean, sky, flora and fauna… a connection that remains at core in the fundamental principles of cultures around the world - whether Pan-American, European, Asian, Slavic, African, Judeo-Persian, or Australasian… and the many others I have not mentioned simply as precision will inadvertently omit cultural or geographical areas.

A Love that ‘binds’ only through interlaced connective weave - in its very freedom - a love that grows a loving tenderness in the heart of Hearts. To relinquish, to surrender, to allow the seedling to grow into the intoxicating vine of worlds unveiled through the very essence of shared bliss…

Elisabeth Hatch, in her small book titled Sexual Energy and Yoga (1972), writes (recalling that in 1972, ‘man’ was used in its generic form):

Man experiences within himself the lowest form of creative power - called sexual energy - as an unconscious , physical-sexual urge for release; at the highest level, as a purely spiritual state, as divine-universal love and as divine all-consciousness - as I AM.

She then continues to refine a description of these forms into seven levels, not neglecting the joyful pleasure that the ‘lowest’ level brings even onto and within the highest manifestation and that of the ‘mystical marriage’ - the marriage (to speak beyond her text) that in both eastern and western alchemical, shamanic, and other inner esoteric disciplines brings into unison Hermes and Aphrodite, the REBIS of Sun and Moon into the Mercury of alchemical metamorphosis.

Here the forces of the dragon (of the Kundalini energy deep within the bosom of our being) are channeled and raised to integration - a force that is, to speak from more yogic terms, unites the feminine dynamic creative energetic forces of Shakti with the masculine powers of the light of consciousness of Shiva. With this sacred union, manifest life - the Mercury child of Sun and Moon - emerges and remains manifest.

The Silence of Harpocrates becomes the eye of the Falcon of Horus, of the Sun’s light warming and fertilising the moistened Earth…

To transform fear into awe - the awesomeness of depth of merging, whereby the sacred union becomes the fearsome depth of love surrendered onto itself within the very fabric of the primordial unmanifest.

Text: Umberco Eco’s The Island of the Day Before

Umberto Eco (together with John Deely) are two of the most important philosophers and semioticians that span the latter part of the 20th century and into the early parts of the 21st. Umberto Eco has also written a number of fiction books that are each exceptional pieces of literature, infused with historical, psychological, and philosophical content. The Island of the Day Before is set around the time when the setting of longitude was at its peak. The book provides us with opportunities for geography as well as scientific historical understanding.

9:30 – 11:30 BOOK – Umberto Eco The Island of the Day Before
12:30 – 2:30 ART – focussed on Geometry and Geography

Please note that the book is around 500 pages, and will require reading (or listening) to approximately 50 pages per week. It is NOT expected that all words are understood - especially as the author is purposefully seeking to (at times) bamboozle the reader.

You will also need, for the geometry, around 2-3 A3 (or 6 A4) sheets of thin cardboard (around 270-300 gsm paper), and a drawing book. We will be constructing a cube-dodecahedral inversion solid, as well as drawing geography directly or indirectly arising from the novel.

Water Tree Community School development

Water Tree Community School is a proposed non-government independent school located in in the Nannup, in the heart of the South West of Western Australia, designed to provide high-quality, community-centred learning for local families. Built on strong community support and a clear educational vision, the school aims to deliver a nurturing, structured learning environment that prioritises student wellbeing, academic growth, and meaningful connection to community and environment.

Having already achieved Government Approval of Advanced Determination, the project is now progressing through the formal establishment pathway. With demonstrated demand from families and strong local engagement, Water Tree Community School represents an opportunity for investors to support the development of a sustainable, values-driven education model that responds to real community need while contributing to long-term educational diversity in the region.

Giordano Berti The History of Tarot: Truth and Legends behind the world's most enigmatic cards

Giordano's 2022 book was released in English translation late 2025. For me, this book, by a long-time colleague and friend, is a long awaited blessing. Berti manages to do in this book what was always my aim and intent for Tarotpedia: the online Encyclopaedia of Tarot (which he graciously mentions towards the end of the book).

For those who wish to read no more than these two short sentences of my review... simply get a copy: it will be an extremely worthwhile read!

… Berti's efforts have made this book, in my personal view, a 'must have'… Read the review on my website: www.fourhares.com/tarot/berti_hist-tarot.html

ASEA

Redox Supplement & Renu28

Much research has emerged over the last two decades on the functions of redox processes in maintaining cellular health. ASEA products delivers redox molecules that assist in this very process!

800% Increase in Glutathione Efficacy

Researchers at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) performed in vitro tests to determine the antioxidant efficiency of the body’s most powerful natural antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and superoxide dismutase (SOD).

The results showed significant, well-defined effects. The cell extracts exposed to ASEA Redox Supplement exhibited 8 times the antioxidant efficiency for GPx, and 5 times antioxidant efficacy for SOD. This efficiency was evident especially at low-level concentrations of ASEA Redox Supplement, tested down to 2.5% of full strength.

That’s it for this week.
